Shortly after Matt and Madeline Shugert landed in Crested Butte in 2023, they began making music with Lizzy and her family. It was a natural progression to take the casual old-time jams into a more polished form to share with the community and beyond. So, in 2025, The Ditchwalkers was formed. To start, they leaned into classic and beloved bluegrass covers and the many old-time fiddle tunes Lizzy loves to play. As the group solidified and the harmonies became more embedded, they have grown to share their original music as a trio. Lizzy, bringing her rustic folk singer-songwriting to the table and the Shugert's bringing their knack for beauty and depth in vocal and instrumental arrangements alike. The combination is a somehow sophisticated and rowdy music party that is sure to delight!
